Join old friend of the festival, Cathy Jordan with Delia’s grandson the piper Ronan Browne as we celebrate the unique voice of Delia Murphy whose 1962 LP recorded in New York is entitled “The Queen of Connemara”. Delia is forever associated with songs such as “The Spinning Wheel”, “Three Lovely Lassies” and “The Moonshiner”. Her life story is perhaps surprising as she graduated with a Commerce degree from UCG and married an Irish diplomat T.J. Kiernan in 1924.
For the rest of her life she juggled her duties as the wife of a diplomat and her singing career. Come and celebrate her life and hear these wonderful old songs brought to vivid life by Cathy and Ronan.
